JAZZ

AND ALL THAT JAZZ!

AND ALL THAT JAZZ! This class will be a fun and energetic setting that focuses on learning basic jazz technique and flexibility. This class will build into exciting turns, leaps, and jumps; using both musical theater and pop music to build an exciting learning environment. Pulling influence from both classic forms of jazz technique and new influences, we will build a technique that includes across-the-floor exercises and culminates in learning choreography.

  • Classes offered for ages 9 and up.

  • Jazz shoes or ballet slippers are recommended.

BALLET

SHALL WE DANCE?!

This class will focus in on a classic approach to the ballet technique. We will build a repertoire of ballet basics that can be used as the building blocks to many other dance disciplines. Dancers will be able to build strength, dexterity, and flexibility as we progress through this age-old art form.

  • Classes offered for ages 9 and up.

  • Dance attire recommended, no loose fitting clothes.

  • Ballet slippers recommended.

TAP

STEP IN TIME!

This class will focus on not only movement, but using the body to add to the music around us. We will learn to tackle tap vocabulary with speed and precision in an upbeat environment. Focusing on building lower body strength and dexterity, we will pull from classic broadway tunes and various genres of music.

  • Classes offered for ages 9 and up.

  • Tap shoes required.

MUSICAL THEATRE DANCE

IT’S A MUSICAL!

This class will not only focus on aspects of musical theater jazz technique, but also choreography influenced by popular musicals throughout the ages. We will build not only an understanding of the technique, but the various styles that can fall into the musical theater umbrella.

  • Classes offered for ages 9 and up.

  • Jazz shoes or dance sneakers recommended.

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

BIT BY BIT!

In this exciting class we will work on building the skill of putting together both song and dance. We will be learning songs from various broadway hits, and learning to execute great vocals while busting out some dance moves.

  • This is an open level course for all ages.

  • Jazz shoes or dance sneakers recommended.

LET’S MOVE

LET’S DANCE!

This class is for one and all! This is a danced based fitness class that focuses on getting the body moving in a judgement free space. With a rotating playlist for all ages, we will do a follow the leader style warm up, dance based cardio, and cool down. The goal of this class is for everyone to get a chance to have some fun while breaking a sweat.

  • This is a class for all ages.

  • Sneakers recommended.

BEGINNERS VARIETY DANCE

BEGINNERS VARIETY DANCE

This class focuses on various styles of dance. Geared towards our younger dances, this class is a fun environment that gets them moving to songs they know. This class sets them up to naturally progress to higher levels of dance.

  • Ages 4-8

  • Sneakers recommended.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Private lesson slots are available upon request. Private dance lessons with Jakob are on a first come first serve basis, and there are a limited number of times/dates available. Lessons can be focused in one style of dance or general technique.

PIANO LESSONS

PIANO

Students learn the fundamentals of piano through hands-on practice, creative expression, and a focus on building confidence. Lessons include technique, rhythm, and music reading in a supportive, encouraging environment.

PRIVATE LESSONS

VOICE!

Develop your unique sound while learning healthy vocal technique, breath control, and performance skills. Students explore a variety of musical styles and gain confidence in expressing themselves through song.

HAND SEWING

HAND SEWING!

Students discover the joy of creating with needle and thread while learning basic stitches, simple repairs, and small projects. This class builds fine motor skills, patience, and creativity — one stitch at a time.

  • Open to all ages.

MACHINE SEWING

MACHINE SEWING!

Learn to use a sewing machine safely and confidently while creating fun, practical projects. Students explore stitching techniques, fabric choices, and basic construction skills in a hands-on, creative setting.

Willard Arts Academy Attendance Policy

Purpose:
Consistent attendance is essential for student growth, class unity, and performance readiness. Every class builds on the previous one, and missing even a single session can impact technique, choreography learning, and group formations.

1. Expectations

  • Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes on time and prepared to dance.

  • Attendance will be recorded at each class.

  • Dancers should arrive 5 minutes early to stretch and be ready when class begins.

2. Absences

  • Excused Absences: Illness, family emergencies, or approved school events.

    • A parent/guardian or the student must notify the instructor before class whenever possible.

  • Unexcused Absences: Missing class without prior notice or valid reason.

    • Unexcused absences may result in exclusion from upcoming performances.

3. Tardiness

  • Arriving more than 10 minutes late counts as ½ an absence unless prior arrangements are made.

4. Performance Eligibility

To perform in showcases or competitions, dancers must:

  • Maintain at least 90% attendance throughout the session. 

  • Attend all mandatory dress rehearsals unless excused by the instructor.


5. Communication

All absences, schedule conflicts, or injuries should be communicated directly to the instructor via email or message as soon as possible. Open communication helps keep everyone on track and ensures fair participation.
